ALFI is our recommended Amazon partner for beauty brands generating about $5M+ a year on Amazon when the job is profitable, end-to-end channel ownership. Consider Acadia, Envision Horizons, Front Row, Pattern or Tinuiti when a different operating model or broader channel team fits your business. We assessed these alternatives against 6 frozen criteria, using official scope and external evidence inspected October 15 through October 20, 2026. We exclude ALFI from the comparison table. No agency paid for inclusion.
Key Takeaways
- Compare 5 named alternatives through their proposed scope, not a league table of campaign results.
- ALFI's 18-brand ceiling protects senior continuity across the connected Amazon operation.
- On $100,000 in monthly ad spend, a 10% management fee costs $10,000 a month before extras.
- Give 3 finalists the same claim-sensitive, out-of-stock shade scenario and ask who can stop spend.
- Ask for 2 comparable references and a 12-month cost sheet covering fees, creative, software and transition.
Which agency is the best fit for each beauty situation?
Treat these as fit calls from public positioning and the limited evidence below. They are not delivery-quality rankings or performance guarantees.
- Consider Acadia when Amazon media must work alongside a broader digital marketing program.
- Consider Envision Horizons when you want to examine a beauty-focused marketplace team offering both operations and advertising.
- Consider Front Row when beauty positioning, creative and commerce channels need to work together.
- Consider Pattern when marketplace acceleration, inventory arrangements and broader ecommerce capabilities are part of the decision.
- Consider Tinuiti when Amazon retail media sits inside a larger media plan, especially if your team already owns product operations.
ALFI is the separate recommendation for a brand that wants senior people accountable across the Amazon business. A capable media team can still be the right answer if someone internally owns claims, catalog and supply. Write that division down before interviewing agencies.
Why is ALFI our recommendation for established beauty brands?
We want the person discussing ad spend to understand the stock and claim decisions behind it. An ingredient-led launch cannot run well if creative, legal review and replenishment each wait for another team to act.
ALFI caps active brand partners at 18. Naeela leads strategy, reviews, accountability and delivery conversations. A seasoned senior team owns and delivers the work. Keeping those people close to the account protects context: why a benefit claim changed, which shade launch slipped and which promotion left too little contribution.
Our fit is brands generating about $5M+ annually on Amazon, or established Shopify/DTC brands generating about $10M+ annually that are ready to build Amazon seriously. We need the economics, account access and operating authority required to make connected decisions. The client retains final business authority.
We accept end-to-end Amazon mandates across advertising, listings, creative, catalog, inventory, pricing, reviews, account health, forecasting and reporting. We refuse PPC-only work, even when it would bring in fees. Accepting profit accountability while another party controls the product page and stock would leave the client paying for an argument about responsibility.
Read our case studies as examples of our operating approach, not beauty-specific performance promises. The ALFI services scope sets out the connected mandate. Choose another model if you need a standalone creative project, a narrow ad specialist or a large cross-channel bench.
How did we compare these beauty agencies?
Use these 6 diligence priorities to test proposals. The research weights below prioritize buyer risk; they are not agency scores:
- Claim, ingredient and product-page governance: 25%.
- Shade/size catalog structure and brand-accurate creative: 20%.
- Availability, replenishment and contribution economics: 20%.
- Connected ownership, escalation and senior continuity: 15%.
- Independently inspectable category evidence and its limits: 15%.
- Commercial model and contract clarity: 5%.
The research covered more than 24 distinct pages across official records, platform cases, editorial coverage, review/reference platforms and seller discussions. Sources were inspected October 15 through October 20, 2026; profile dates identify official pages that could not be reopened. Each firm received the same scope, external-evidence, contract and critical-search template.
Official pages establish advertised scope. External cases establish reported relationships, not independently audited delivery or profit. No comparable beauty-client review set was available. Selective review samples, anonymous discussions and blocked pages cannot support a quality ranking, and unknowns are not deficiencies. The alphabetical shortlist therefore uses fit calls and specific diligence questions. Before choosing, obtain evidence for your actual scope and team.
Which are the 5 beauty Amazon agencies to compare?
This table is a shortlist builder, not a ranking. It is alphabetical; case dates do not guarantee current delivery.
| Agency | Best fit (public positioning) | Independent evidence snapshot (dated) | Main diligence question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acadia | Amazon alongside broader digital marketing | Amazon Ads describes a SexyHair campaign from December 2024 through January 2025; case reopened October 20 | Who joins media decisions to claim approval and shade-level stock? |
| Envision Horizons | Beauty marketplace operations and retail media | Glossy's December 2024 awards name Envision Horizons and Kopari for an Amazon project; reopened October 20 | Show the operating owner behind catalog, replenishment and creative promises. |
| Front Row | Beauty strategy, creative and connected commerce | Amazon Ads describes Cosnova's Q4 2025 UK cosmetics launch; case reopened October 20 | How will a UK media example translate into your North American operating scope? |
| Pattern | Marketplace acceleration and broader ecommerce | Amazon's July 2023 Buy with Prime case names beauty brands; reopened October 20; this is off-marketplace checkout | What inventory, account-control and channel obligations would your contract create? |
| Tinuiti | Amazon retail media within a wider media plan | Amazon Ads names Tinuiti, Skai and eos in a January through February 2026 body-mist launch; reopened October 20 | Who owns listing, claim and availability issues outside the media brief? |
When does Acadia belong on the shortlist?
Acadia's official positioning covers digital marketing, retail media and marketplace management. Its current homepage was inspected October 19 in our related category research; the beauty page was inspected October 15. Both were blocked when we tried to reopen them October 20, so ask the team to confirm current scope.
The Amazon Ads SexyHair case describes Amazon Marketing Cloud audience testing from December 2024 through January 2025. It establishes a named haircare media relationship; reported results are sourced to Acadia.
What we could verify: published Amazon-relevant positioning and a named beauty campaign. We could not verify claim approval, shade management or inventory responsibility for your proposed team.
Use the official beauty scope to open the conversation. Ask who acts when a promotion and a stock forecast disagree, and request a reference with the same operating responsibilities.
When does Envision Horizons belong on the shortlist?
Envision Horizons' beauty page and full-service page describe marketplace advertising, catalog work, compliance support, creative and replenishment. Those advertised services, inspected October 20, give you a concrete list to test in a proposal.
Glossy's December 2024 awards name “Envision Horizons and Kopari: Amazon Suncare Disruption” as Best E-Commerce Experience. The award establishes dated project recognition, not the scope or results of today's delivery team.
What we could verify: current advertised marketplace scope and the dated Kopari recognition. We could not verify a comparable client's current contribution or the staffing promised to a new account.
Ask the proposed account owner to walk through a suppressed listing, a delayed replenishment and the handoff to your regulatory reviewer. Establish which actions require your approval.
When does Front Row belong on the shortlist?
Front Row's beauty positioning connects brand strategy, creative, performance media and commerce channels, including Amazon. That can suit a buyer whose Amazon launch needs to match a wider beauty campaign. The scope page was read October 20.
The Amazon Ads Cosnova case names Front Row in a UK launch for essence and Catrice. The launch began in Q4 2025; the case's source notes cover 2025 through 2026 and attribute figures to Cosnova. That source period does not establish the length of Front Row's engagement.
What we could verify: current beauty/Amazon positioning and the named UK cosmetics campaign. We could not establish North American claim governance, catalog ownership or replenishment delivery from that case.
Ask how the proposed team will adapt the approach to your market and who resolves conflicts between a creative brief, approved ingredient language and available shades. Request evidence beyond media performance.
When does Pattern belong on the shortlist?
Pattern's beauty page describes marketplace strategy, claims review, content, retail media, forecasting and returns/expiration risk. Inspected October 20, it supports a fit discussion about connected ecommerce capabilities. Confirm the actual commercial arrangement offered to your brand.
Amazon's July 2023 Buy with Prime case names Trophy Skin and Tria Beauty. The work concerns checkout on brands' own sites, not Amazon marketplace management. Trophy Skin was acquired by Pattern in 2020; it must not be presented as an arm's-length client endorsement. The case relies heavily on Pattern's account of results.
What we could verify: current advertised beauty scope and a third-party-published beauty ecommerce case. That case does not verify an independent marketplace-management client or performance across our six criteria.
Ask for a current, comparable marketplace reference. Establish inventory title, price authority, data access, termination and any channel restrictions before treating this as interchangeable with an agency retainer.
When does Tinuiti belong on the shortlist?
Tinuiti's beauty service page, inspected October 15, positions the firm around beauty marketing and commerce media. The page was blocked on our October 20 reopening attempt. Confirm the current remit through the official beauty service page and the proposed statement of work.
The Amazon Ads eos case, read October 20, describes Tinuiti and Skai's roles in a body-mist launch during January through February 2026. It attributes campaign figures to eos. The brief establishes beauty media work, with operations outside its evidentiary scope.
What we could verify: published beauty positioning and the platform-reported eos media relationship. We could not verify the operating scope or senior continuity of your future team.
Ask where media responsibility ends. If your internal team owns product operations, require a clear escalation route when a content or availability problem makes further spend unwise.
How should claims and shade variants change your agency choice?
Give claims a named approver before paying for more traffic. FDA says cosmetic labeling claims must be truthful and not misleading; claims about treating disease or affecting body structure/function can make a product a drug under the law. Its cosmetics claims guidance explains that boundary. An agency's compliance service does not replace qualified regulatory advice or the brand's responsibility.
Build one approved claim register covering labels, product-page text, image overlays, A+ content and ads. Record who can approve wording and who can change it. A compelling serum image becomes a liability if its benefit claim outruns the evidence your regulatory reviewer has cleared.
Then test the shade-level plan. Imagine a foundation range with 12 shades: two hero shades have 10 days of cover, while several slower shades have 90. Those are hypothetical planning inputs, not an account result. A blended stock number can hide the shortage where the next campaign will send shoppers.
The operator should check the child ASIN, image and shade name together, preserve valid variation relationships, and connect the forecast to advertising. Don't route shoppers toward a different shade merely because it is available. Decide whether to slow the hero campaign, change the promotion or accelerate replenishment, then price the consequence.
Turn that scenario into a one-page brief before the interview:
| Decision | Evidence the finalist must request | Owner and hold/release condition |
|---|---|---|
| Claim mismatch | Approved wording, substantiation and every live asset carrying the claim | Your authorized regulatory reviewer clears wording; the operator corrects affected assets before using the disputed claim in a new campaign. |
| Hero-shade shortage | Child-ASIN stock, sell-through forecast, inbound dates and receiving uncertainty | The forecast owner confirms usable stock; the media owner holds promotion spend that would outrun it. Release against agreed cover, not a shipment promise. |
| Shade-page mismatch | Child ASIN, shade name, swatch and product image | The catalog owner checks the live selection after correction. Resume affected traffic only when shoppers reach the right shade. |
Have each finalist name the person, the decision deadline and the evidence required to lift each hold. A media-only model fails this test if your own team cannot own the other rows. A connected model fails if its contract excludes those decisions. A broad bench helps only when someone can resolve the handoffs.
How should you compare beauty agency pricing?
Normalize 12 months of cost against the same mandate. A media fee and a connected operating retainer buy different work; their headline percentages cannot settle the choice.
For a hypothetical proposal, assume $100,000 in monthly ad spend and a 10% management fee. Management is $120,000 annually. Add a $5,000 setup, $2,000 monthly creative allowance and $500 monthly software charge: the total becomes $155,000 before media, taxes or other work. These are example inputs, not quoted prices from the five firms.
Have each finalist fill in these five lines:
- Recurring management, including minimums and tier changes.
- Setup, migration and catalog cleanup.
- Creative production, revision limits and asset rights.
- Software, reporting and third-party charges.
- Transition costs and any inventory or channel commitments.
For a resale or inventory-buying arrangement, also model wholesale margin, payment timing, returns and ownership of unsold units. A low visible service fee can accompany a very different economic agreement.
Ask what happens to the agency's compensation if the responsible recommendation is to cut spend. Our agency pricing guide gives the broader cost framework.
To compare a reseller proposal, bridge both models to retained contribution. Suppose annual retail sales are $6M, product cost $2.4M, marketplace/fulfillment costs $1.2M, and media $1.2M. With the $155,000 agency package above, the brand retains $1.045M before overhead, taxes and other costs. If an inventory buyer instead pays the brand $3.2M and bears all those marketplace and media costs, the brand retains $800,000 after the same product cost. The $245,000 difference prices a transfer of work, cash timing and risk. It is not automatically a saving or a loss.
These are hypothetical terms, not agency quotes or margin benchmarks. Reject the comparison if costs are omitted or stock risk stays with the brand despite the apparent transfer. Require finance to reconcile both proposals to the same assumptions.
What should you ask before hiring a beauty agency?
First, give 3 finalists the same foundation scenario. A hero shade is nearly out of stock, its main image contains an unapproved benefit claim and the promotion starts next week. Ask for the first five checks, who owns each action and what would make them pause media. You are testing judgment, not commissioning free account work.
Second, meet the people doing the work. Ask who writes the forecast, who reviews creative and who attends when results miss plan. A senior sales presentation does not identify the delivery team.
Third, ask for 2 comparable references. Match product type, market, revenue stage and actual scope. A dated haircare media campaign cannot answer every question about a US foundation catalog.
Fourth, request a sample weekly decision record with client information removed. Look for a problem, an owner, the business consequence and a decision. A dashboard alone won't show how disagreements get resolved.
Fifth, test the exit. Confirm account access, asset ownership, data export, notice periods, inventory commitments and handover responsibilities in writing. If your current partner cannot provide those basics, our guide to when to fire an Amazon agency can help separate a repairable process problem from a deeper mismatch.
When is an agency the wrong choice?
Hire internally when the main need is daily authority inside your business and you already have the specialist support. An agency cannot resolve every product, supply and regulatory decision from outside the company.
A hybrid can work when an internal Amazon leader owns contribution and supply, and a specialist has a narrow, explicit brief. ALFI does not take that PPC-only role, but another firm may suit it well. Check the handoffs instead of assuming every full-service promise means the same thing.
Delay a growth mandate if nobody can produce reliable unit economics or approve product claims. Start by assigning those owners. Buying more traffic before that work can increase the cost of finding out what is wrong.
Where does ALFI fit, and where does it not?
ALFI fits when you want the connected mandate described above and will share the economics and access needed to act. We owe you continuity and recommendations that protect profit, even when they reduce spending.
Choose a specialist for a bounded project or a broader bench when you need that capacity. If your procurement process requires the cheapest interchangeable task provider, our model is wrong for you. Declining that work protects existing partners' share of senior attention.
Does a beauty brand need a specialist Amazon agency?
A beauty brand needs demonstrated competence in its specific risks, whether the team calls itself a specialist or not. Ask for claim-approval boundaries, shade-level catalog checks and replenishment decisions. A specialist label is insufficient; an internal operator plus a focused external team may cover the same job well.
Are Amazon Ads case studies independent proof of agency performance?
They are third-party-published records of reported relationships and campaigns, not independent financial audits. Check the source notes, market, dates and actual brief. A media case can support inclusion on a shortlist, but it cannot establish that the agency owns claims, inventory or contribution for every client.
Can the agency approve cosmetic claims for the brand?
An agency can help maintain wording and approval workflows within its agreed scope. The brand still needs an authorized reviewer with the relevant regulatory expertise. FDA's labeling guidance distinguishes cosmetic claims from drug claims. Put that reviewer and approval trail into the operating process before creative or media goes live.
Should you compare a retainer with an inventory-buying arrangement?
Compare both if both solve your business problem, but model their economics separately. Normalize annual fees alongside wholesale margin, payment timing, stock ownership, returns, data access and exit terms. The cheaper-looking headline can transfer different risks or rights. Ask a finance owner to review the full agreement before choosing.
What to do this week
- Name the decision you need owned: media, marketplace operations or connected channel profit.
- Audit your top 20 ASINs for approved claims, correct shade images and stock cover.
- Choose 3 finalists whose proposed operating model matches that gap.
- Give each the same claim-and-stock scenario and compare the decisions.
- Meet the delivery team and ask for 2 comparable references.
- Normalize the 12-month economics and have finance review inventory obligations.
- Put approval authority, escalation and exit responsibilities into the contract.
Choose the team that can make the product, stock and spending decisions together when the launch stops going to plan.
